Do you see yourself as some kind of animal? Maybe some kind of a love bird or a wise owl perhaps? Well, Genoa-based artist, Alessandro Gallo combines animal heads with human bodies in delightfully mundane ways that will give you a profound idea of how you’ll look with an animal head on top of your body.
Gallo’s specialty is ceramic sculptures of humans with expressive, contemporary clothing and body language, topped with the heads of birds, lizards, mammals, and the occasional insect. He produces anamorphic sculptures exploring humorously personal traits. Another interesting fact about Gallo is that he loves pop music and has named his numerous sculptures after songs by the Beatles, Lou Reed, and The Ramones.
In his latest solo exhibition ‘Strange Encounters’, he navigates through the complex assemblage of human emotions while mimicking them as half-human, half-animal. Scroll on to see some of our favorite photos from his collection and enjoy peeps!
